Ultra precision machining and microscopy
Ultra Precision Machining and Microscopy Centre
This project has enhanced the precision manufacture and customised assembly demonstration and knowledge transfer facilities at the University of Nottingham through the purchase of a FIB/SEM. This equipment will complete this loop by providing the final most detailed inspection and quality assurance as well as offering the most precise machining capabilities available.
Key objectives are to use this equipment along with the existing facilities to:
- Establish within the East Midlands a national Centre to support UK manufacturers in adopting new manufacturing technology; increasing their competitiveness against overseas manufacturers.
- Enable technology transfer of University expertise to local businesses.
- Create development in the East Midlands region through enhanced national profile and increased manufacturing and technology development and support.
- Assist SME's in the region to access and trial state of the art facilities in precision micro manufacturing.
