Nikola gained his BSc degree in Physics in 2007 and MSc degree in Solid State Physics in 2009 at Sofia University, Bulgaria. During his studies there he was involved in a large inter-institutional project with the responsibilty of designing and constructing a Surface Plasmon Microscope (SPM) for vizualization of biological objects.
Nikola joined the PMC in 2009 as a PhD student. His main research interest is applying Focused Ion Beam (FIB) deposition and etching processes to the fabrication of 3D micro/nano-structures. He is also involved in the Microtool project, where he is currently looking into machining of metal inserts for micro-injection moulding machines.
