Adam’s research interests centre on the development of novel manufacturing techniques for a wide array of applications.
Utilising the extensive Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) facilities within the PMC Adam is investigating the influence of processing parameters on component quality from both a geometric and materials based perspective. This will lead to enhancing EDM as a manufacturing technique for new applications and also for the processing of exotic materials.
Adam is also interested in all methods of additive manufacture. He has extensive experience of both laser and projection based methods of rapid manufacture. Currently, he is investigating applying these techniques to bespoke scenarios which demand high degrees of precision. Adam’s interest in this field extends to interacting with industry to facilitate solutions to specific requirements.
He has authored several papers which have been published in academic journals dealing with functional materials processing, rapid manufacturing and instrument manufacture.
Adam also lectures on several courses at the University of Nottingham including Near Net Shape Manufacturing and Advanced CAD Techniques.
